Editing Log - Montage
5th October 2014 -
After filming all the footage for the Montage edit for our 'Editing' Unit we imported all the footage from the Canon EOS 550D camera we used and began to arrange the footage in the particular order we wanted it to play in. For example, the narrative of our montage was a teenage boy getting ready for Prom through different means of exercisisng. It also conveys him getting better at the exercising and then arriving at prom and then realsiing that it ended after he got there. Therefore, I arranged the footage which we shot in the order of the protagonist being really bad at the various exericses and him progressively getting better. Once I did this I cut the pieces of footage which weren't needed such as before the actor starts acting and the long pauses.
8th October 2014 -
Continuing edting my Montage I added transistions at the begining and the end of montage edit to jump from the titles at the begining and to fade in the credits at the end. I did not add any cross dissolves to any of the other peices of footage because the shots are conveyed as straight quick cuts therefore it will give the impact of action editing on the viewing audience.
9th October 2014 -
I then found some appropriate audio to include in my montage edit. I added the audio 'You're The Best Around' from the film 'Karate Kid' as I belive it correlated well with the theme of a montage and getting better like the 'Rocky' montage when he is training.
12th October 2014 -
Today I applied the colour correction tool to all the pieces of my footage as I found all the footage to be quite dark due to the minimal amount of lighting in the location which we filmed in. Therefore, I made my footage brighter so it is easier to see what is going on in the scene. I added the titles at the begining and end of my montage edit to indicate what the montage is about at the begining and the credits at the end. I added constant gain to the end and the begining of my audio to fade it in and out.
